Alma Ionescu

Researcher
Alma is a PhD student at UCL’s Institute for Global Health. Her research focuses on mental health activism in Uganda. She applies a critical lens to understand people’s experiences of a hostile status quo, as well as how they envision and navigate change towards (mental) health-enabling environments. Her work is firmly rooted in the importance of listening to, and learning from, the stories of those who are typically marginalised in global health spaces. She holds a BSc and MSc from the London School of Economics (LSE) and an MA from Leiden University.
