GH5050 in BMJ Global Health – Sex, gender and COVID-19: Disaggregated data and health disparities

In collaboration with CNN investigative journalists, Global Health 50/50 have been analysing which of the hardest-hit countries are collecting and reporting sex-disaggregated data on COVID-19, what this data shows so far and what role gender may be playing in driving these findings.

We found that only 6/20 countries were sex-disaggregating their data on cases and deaths, and that, across these countries, men are consistently dying at higher rates than women. Read the article in BMJ Global Health here.
